What can I say? 2020 has been a year which had tested people in so many ways. But when I think back, all I can think of is the song by Elton John which Gareth Malone’s Great British Home Chorus recorded back in the summer – “I’m Still Standing”. Last year I put up a post celebrating my achievement of my Scholarship at the Hotspur School of Defence. Given these times of isolation it might seem strange to be putting up a post about my sport – Historic European Martial Arts (HEMA) – but there is a spirit of community here that I feel deserves to be shared.
I had hoped to use this post to write about the “Art That Adorns You” tournament, hosted by York School of Defence, but with everything going into lockdown the event has been postponed for the moment (watch this space).
