Ithronian Adventures

On a bright winter morning Tungdil and Brigit joined others of the Berwickshire adventurers travelling southwards towards the Tisa Valley for another pair of hirings.

Thanks Tees Valley for a lovely pair of pre-Christmas missions. See you all in the New Year!

Monster Mission: Man on the run

The Guards need the help investigating the disappearance of a man from a debtors prison. His wife is anxious to find him, given until recently he has been a fidgety but model prisoner. The guards are concerned that he slipped away from his work detail and wish to recover him swiftly before anyone else gets the idea of escaping.

The adventurers who attended his hiring were:

  • Pathfinder Wulfric Treewalker of the Scouts Guild;
  • Tony Lithgow and Cassidy of the Guards;
  • Master Richter Kless of the School of Demonology; Fortescue Everbright of the School of Enchantment;
  • Errant Ectar de Vymont of the Black Order; Errant Hardouin De Vymont of the Grey Order;
  • Father Thomas de Vymont of Sidhe; Gorim Cragbiter of Crowa;

Setting out from the town they made their way to the work camp where they found a group of debtors and their guard working in the quarry. The debtors were glad of the distraction and a chance to rest, the guard was not pleased at all, and the adventurers were confused at the strange things one of the prisoners was saying about things out of the woods.

Continuing on they came across a number of grindylow that had seen a man being dragged away from the quarry, before they found a dwarf being attacked by a number of Grudge. Up ahead they encountered a group of mercenaries who were hired to hunt for the missing prisoner too.

Following a group of foulspawn ambling towards the sea, the adventurers came upon a group of demon cultists who were not willing to let the company through. A fight kicked off and the adventurers pushed through and fought off more demon cultists whilst Errant Hardouin tried to reason with the prisoner to shrug off the cloud of darkness that threatened his very soul. The company were able to convince the man to come back with them, but he was confused and had no recollection of his wife and children.

A quest for love, a quest worthy of a Grey Knight.

Player Mission: On the edge of Nightmare and Dreams

Previously a tax collector had been sent into an area that seemed to be suffering under some malign or mischievous influence. After burying the taxes he had collected he had set off into the woodland to investigate and had the great misfortune to fall foul of a medusa. Saved by adventurers and returned to his health, the adventurers are sent out after the taxes and to investigate the strangeness out in the woodland.

The people who answered the hiring notice were:

  • Runa Flamebeard of the Scouts Guild;
  • Edgar Wisty of the Guild of Alchemists;
  • Guy Lockless of the Blacksmiths Guild;
  • Robert of the Physicians Guild;
  • Erulisse Saerwen of the School of Thaumaturgy; Pirran Lanistly of the Mages Guild;
  • Errant Baudwin Egremont, Feudal Vassal;
  • Defender Tungdil Stonehammer of Tralda; High Mother Brigit Wooller of Crowa, Chaplain Griffin;

Setting out from the town they passed through a set of gate guards, they were attacked by a group of foulspawn who chased their scout back towards the company. After defending themselves they pressed on towards a plume of smoke rising out of the village on the road ahead. They found a trio of fathers burning their children’s toys after their children had been troubled by awful nightmares. Living in fear of their toys had led these men to do anything to protect their children, and so the company tried to set their minds at ease. Hearing that the troubles had started a couple of weeks ago, around the time many of the adventurers had been in the area – the problem could possibly be fae related?

They found a collection of half finished scarecrows, were watched from the woodlands by an elyion, and lost Runa and Guy when they were snatched away by some strange force. They found them again when they suddenly reappeared before them screaming about a Mummy and how the rest of the company had abandoned them, and the group fought off a mass of undead which were not affected with holy power as they should. With things becoming decidedly strange, more illusions of fear rather than truth, the company stumbled upon a pair of circles in the woodland that linked to fae.

One was lush green grass, the other was bare earth, and the Elyion that had been following them dashed into the springtime circle with glee. A shadowy figure lurked in the other circle who sent those who drew close into slumbers, only to be roused with horrific nightmares and fears.

The story, as the Elyion told it, was that there was an imbalance between the realms of Dream and Nightmares (and it was all the Princess of Nightmare’s fault) and that was the reason they were there. Edgar Wisty stabbed up the creature in the Nightmare circle and Erulisse Saerwen and Brigit worked to try and close the circles if they could. Edgar was greatly affected by the nightmare circle and left the others in the woodlands. Hunting for him, with Brigit worrying she had accidentally locked him in fae, they stumbled upon a large collection of scarecrows being fashioned by a raggedy man. They were roused and the party defended themselves as Runa hunted for the buried box before they returned to give their report and hand over the taxes.
