There’s something about going out into the countryside with glorious sunshine, a bunch of people who are keen to be there (and so happy to see you – added bonus!), to run around in kit with all sorts of frothy plot exploding at every encounter, to get the inspirational juices going. If only I’d had my notebook with me – or not fallen asleep in the car on the way home …
More about what happened to the adventurers of Ithron coming on Wednesday, but all I will say is that when I got up this morning I had fae on the brain. They have no real place in my current work-in-progress novel …
Oh well – skin slipping fae painted in woad who can only be spotted by one of certain heritage will just have to wait for another time. Or be worked in elsewhere. Either way, I woke up this morning with more plot bunnies to herd, store or pass along to another desperate writer. Though not a Fools and Heroes plot writer – cute fluffy bunnies will get eaten by whatever demons they have up their sleeves!
Story generation for “The Forester and the Mage” is still in full swing, having finally broken the back of a working naming convention for people and places – these things take ages to do! Got new names for my characters and I will update the project page once I’ve got a bit more sorted out. Plot is coming together in a rather woolly fashion with gaping plot holes, but I’m pleased with what I have so far. Can’t wait to get down to the nitty gritty of writing the chapters.
I’ll write a longer post sketching out some more of my inspirational source stuff, maybe with some world building fluff to wet your appetites, in the future Writing Monday posts.
Questions on my writing / inspiration / current or past projects are welcome.
