I have to say, sitting up last night and watching the final joint episodes of Battlestar Galactica was … really really good. The Cylon Song, however, is now stuck in my head. So, what does someone do when they have an earworm? Play it over and over again!

For those of you who don’t know, then … um …

SPOILER ALERT: Season 4 Battle Star Galactica

Click away if you don’t want to know about this. This is (sort of) an integral part of most of the end of Season 4 and 5!

I warned you …

You’re still with us? Oh good.

This song was known as the Cylon Activation Song (written by Bear McCreary who I think reworked Bob Dylan’s cover of Jimi Hendrix’s All Along The Watch Tower) – basically, this song keeps going round and round the Final Five’s heads (and no, I won’t tell you who they are!). You keep hearing snippets, and it isn’t until later on that Kara Thrace aka Starbuck is sat at a piano, playing a song she remembers from childhood. Then she kicks it up a gear and plays the exact tune which has been drifting across the scenes with this beautiful electric guitar / sitar (maybe) melody. And trust me – you will sit there and stare!

This song is beautiful and amazing and I really really want the CD now just because of that song and the BSG theme song. Bear with it, the beginning bit is where she’s just playing around with the notes, but around 1:13, it kicks up the gear. And since you’ve ignored the SPOILER warnings, I will say that this song is really important. Really really important!

Bear McCreary ~ youtube video/music thing. Sorry, but I don’t own this, the person uploading it doesn’t own is, so if it goes missing – oops.

Another version can be found here. Ignore the bit at the end – it’s obviously taken from the show where some of the Final Five (not telling you who!!) basically go “wtf! thats our song!”
